Set on a natural 17-acre site, a modern five story office building west of Saint Louis, Missouri serves as global headquarters for the Reinsurance Group of America. The progressive corporate culture of RGA demanded an equally enlightened approach to design from all disciplines. Lighting was no exception.

The project’s lighting design sought to infuse advanced technologies into creative design layouts to embrace the forward-thinking mantra of the company. Linear elements are employed in a variety of spaces, including the exterior, as a means of reinforcing movement throughout the facility. Decorative architectural lighting provides scale and spatial modulation in dwelling areas, such as the cafeteria and fitness center. Lighting controls are central to a daylight harvesting strategy used in office areas.

Lighting’s role in reinforcing the RGA culture for both employees and visitors is not one taken lightly.
