The creation of a new centralized health center for Saint Louis County was an opportunity to demonstrate a renewed commitment to community outreach and healthful lifestyles. The new facility features an expansive and appealing two-story lobby, with an effective clerestory daylighting design. The voluminous gallery is a lively environment with dozens of perimeter activity centers opening onto the space. Functional illumination needs are met through a combination of strategically positioned accent lighting, area lighting and contributing spill light.

Lighting helps modulate the spacious architectural environment to provide a more human scale, as well, and reveals a visually rich material palette. Centralized controls orchestrate LED and fluorescent sources, balancing contributions from daylight during the normal business hours. The resultant project delivers for both owner and community users alike.
