The Cabarrus County Courthouse project brings a significant new addition to the County’s municipal campus. It delivers a relevant and contextually sensitive place for justice and civic engagement within Concord’s charming downtown district.

Lighting for the building facades and adjacent grounds was to both compliment the architecture and establish an inviting nighttime presence for the courthouse campus and adjacent town center. Its prominent position next to the historic Cabarrus County Courthouse required appropriate light for safety, security, and to energize an urban plaza for procession and civic engagement.

The building’s transparent facades reveal an active interior. Tunable white LED perimeter lighting responds continuously to changes in daytime conditions. Major public spaces are functionally well lighted and supportive of internal wayfinding and visitor comfort. Illumination for courtrooms is highly functional with heightened flexibility through a state-of-the-art control system.

Supported by sensitive and functionally reliant lighting systems, the new courthouse and its plaza are envisioned as a catalyst for sustained growth and community enrichment.
