This was the first branch location for a brand-new bank, which meant the design team was tasked not only with designing their building, but also with helping establish their brand. The main complexity was working within the budget with a client who needed to convey a message of banking wealth. It was important for them to make a splash in the community.

A large square feature luminaire was factory-modified to incorporate integral LEDs for long, low-maintenance life. It reflects the Federal Reserve style while pointing to the bank’s new logo, prominently located on the floor below.

Tapelight was an affordable, yet dramatic, option when incorporated into tight spaces within the millwork, allowing the creation of a luxurious double-cove. Mock-ups provided verification that the high-CRI 3000K products enhanced the warmth of the lobby finishes.

All perimeter windows required a pocket to accommodate new dropped ceilings. A tiny extruded tapelight channel was integrated into each window-pocket to provide uplight for the cavity. These separately controlled pockets come on at night to create a welcoming glow in each window.

A stone feature wall required backlighting. An accessible box is built behind the stone wall and painted matte white inside. Linear grazing 3000K LED fixtures where located at the top and bottom of the box to create a stunning gradient instead of a static backlit effect.

Although energy savings was not a specific concern for this project, responsible design is in our DNA. All sources are LED and are easily accessed from a ladder. Perimeter offices and conference rooms have occupancy sensor controls; decorative lights are dimmable.

The surest sign of a successful project? A happy client, a growing bank, and additional branches to design, each one bigger and better than the last!
